History
Like many areas in King County, Woodinville began as a logging settlement. However, as the fertile valley was cleared of timber, the agricultural industry took root. Farms and creameries began to serve Seattle, and the population began to swell beyond its previously meager state.Woodinville was officially incorporated as the 32nd city in King County on March 31, 1993.
Recreation/Attractions
Woodinville is best known as Western Washington's wine country, and with good reason. As the home to more than twenty wineries and breweries, Woodinville attracts over a half million visitors annually to its wineries alone. Interestingly, the grapes used to produced the fine wines of Woodinville are grown primarily in eastern Washington in the Yakima and Columbia Valley regions. Those grapes are then shipped over to Woodinville, where winemasters produce some of the finest wine in the world. While most of Woodinville's wineries are fairly young - the oldest among them having established roots in Woodinville as late as the 1970s, the wine produced here is regularly lauded in the Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiest, Wines and Sprits, and other fine publications.
